Avocet Shore Bird at Inyokern AirportThis handsome gentleman is an American Avocet. He's usually found on the Pacific Coast, but he stopped by Inyokern Airport for a rest on a long cross country flight.

He says "IYK is my favorite High Desert airport. I recommend it to all my friends."

This Barn Owl - named Hootie, for obvious reasons - is one of the birds based at Inyokern Airport. He (she?) frequently takes up residence in the rafters of Hangar 1, the "Big Hangar."

He/she pays the rent by keeping rodents in check and discouraging other birds from setting up shop in the hangar.
